Founding of the Church
On Saturday, July 15, 1922, a presbytery consisting of Rev. J. P. Gwaltney, Rev. L. E. Barnes, and Deacon J. A. Campbell and others met in the old store building of Mr. and Mrs. Josiah P. Hendren located on Cheatham Ford Road, Hiddenite, for the purpose of organizing a new church.
Rev. J. P. Gwaltney presented the name Fairview, which was voted on and accepted by those present. Rev. L. E. Barnes was elected as pastor, Lester Query as church clerk, and Hunter Blankenship as first Sunday school superintendent.
